Watermist
Watermist is a fast and efficient extinguishing medium. Watermist is natural, non-toxic and chemically almost inert. Watermist is safe for people, environmentally friendly and requires minimal cleanup usually associated with traditional water-based systems. Watermist can be used on flammable liquid and electrical fires. It has a strong cooling effect and helps to remove combustion products (such as smoke and toxic fumes) from the air.
Water mist does not remove excessive amounts of Oxygen from the protected area, which makes it safe in occupied areas. The systems will operate effectively even if the door is temporarily open, allowing people to safely evacuate or enter the space without harm from the fog. Water Mist nozzles producing a fine mist of water droplets. When Watermist droplets enter a fire they vaporise. This change of state absorbs energy and reduces the temperature. When water changes into steam it expands 1,760 times forming an envelope preventing air (oxygen) reaching the seat of the fire. The fine Watermist droplets also absorb radiant heat, reducing the heat transferred to the surroundings. Very small amounts of water are needed to extinguish even the most intense fires, in the region of 1 litre per 10 cubic meters. Watermist also has a secondary effect. The use of plastics creates very large amounts of smoke. This smoke contains particulate and gases, which can be toxic and corrosive. Watermist systems help remove the products of combustion from the air, reducing the amount of smoke damage and reducing the amount of water-soluble toxins.
